U311 Cherkasy

In 2014, the crew of the Ukrainian Navy minesweeper U311 “Cherkasy” is stationed in Crimea as Russian forces begin taking control of Ukrainian vessels. Cut off from support, the sailors refuse to surrender the ship and keep resisting the attempt to seize it. Their stand continues for three weeks, making “Cherkasy” the last Ukrainian vessel in Crimea to keep its national flag flying during the occupation’s opening days.
