The Great Dictator (1940)
Adenoid Hynkel rules Tomania as a dictator and seeks to extend his empire, while his regime persecutes Jewish people. In the same country, a poor Jewish barber becomes caught in the danger created by Hynkel’s policies and tries to avoid persecution. The two men are played by Charlie Chaplin and look remarkably alike, creating a sharp contrast between the ruler responsible for oppression and the ordinary man struggling to stay safe.
