The Pianist (2002)
Polish Jewish pianist Władysław Szpilman is caught in Warsaw as the Nazi occupation transforms the city and forces its Jewish population into a ghetto. He manages to keep working by playing in a café, but the deportation of his family in 1942 leaves him facing the occupation largely on his own. After a period of forced labor, Szpilman goes into hiding among the ruins of the war-torn city, where each day brings new risks to his survival.
