Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper launches a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union without authorization, sending American bombers toward their targets. In Washington, President Merkin Muffley gathers military leaders, advisers and the Soviet ambassador to find a way to recall the aircraft before the strike triggers a wider war. As the crisis unfolds, RAF officer Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake tries to understand Ripper’s motives and recover the code needed to stop the operation, while the commanders argue over how to respond.
