The Zookeeper's Wife
After the Nazi invasion of Poland, Warsaw Zoo keepers Jan and Antonina Żabiński see their animal collection destroyed: some creatures die in the bombing, others escape, and German forces take the rest. With many enclosures left empty, the couple begins hiding Jewish people who secretly make their way out of the Warsaw Ghetto. Their efforts to shelter hundreds of people and animals become increasingly difficult as German officials start to suspect that the zoo is concealing more than abandoned cages.
