The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
During World War II, eight-year-old Bruno leaves Berlin when his father, a concentration camp commandant, is assigned to a new post in Poland. Lonely in his unfamiliar surroundings, Bruno meets Shmuel, a Jewish boy living behind the camp fence, and the two begin an unlikely friendship. Bruno does not understand why Shmuel is confined there or what his father’s work involves, but his visits draw him closer to a reality his family tries to keep hidden.
