The Passion of the Christ
In Roman-ruled Judea, Jesus of Nazareth gathers twelve fishermen around him and begins proclaiming the arrival of God’s kingdom. His teaching wins followers who recognize him as the awaited Messiah, but it also alarms the Jewish religious authorities. With Judas Iscariot’s help, they have Jesus arrested and hand him over to Pontius Pilate, accusing him of threatening Roman rule. Seeking to prevent unrest, Pilate condemns him to crucifixion.
