In late-1960s Newark, teenager Anthony Soprano is growing up as racial tensions and street riots unsettle the city. At the same time, rival gangsters begin challenging the DiMeo crime family, drawing Anthony closer to his uncle Dickie Moltisanti, a rising figure in the local underworld. As Dickie struggles to manage violence, family pressures and competition from other criminals, his influence starts shaping the boy who will one day become Tony Soprano.
