The King's Speech
Prince Albert, known to his family as Bertie, is not prepared to become king when his brother Edward VIII gives up the throne. His severe stammer makes public speaking especially difficult, yet as George VI he must address the nation through radio at a time of growing international tension. With Queen Elizabeth’s support, he begins working with Lionel Logue, an unconventional speech therapist whose methods challenge the new king to confront the problem threatening his public role.
