Marshall
Before becoming the first African American justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall takes on a difficult case involving Joseph Spell, a Black chauffeur accused of sexually assaulting his wealthy employer, Eleanor Strubing. Because local prejudice threatens to shape the proceedings, Marshall must work with inexperienced Jewish lawyer Sam Friedman, who is responsible for representing Spell in court. Together, they build a defense while facing the limits imposed by racism and antisemitism in 1940s America.
