On the Basis of Sex
In the 1970s, lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg faces a legal system that treats men and women differently under the law. She joins her husband, Martin D. Ginsburg, to argue a sex-discrimination case before the U.S. Court of Appeals, taking on a precedent that has allowed unequal treatment to continue for generations. As Ruth prepares the case, she must challenge the assumptions built into the courtroom itself and make equal protection a question the judges cannot ignore.
