Empire of the Sun
Young English boy Jim is living with his parents in Shanghai when the Japanese invasion abruptly separates him from them and places him in a prisoner-of-war camp. Surrounded by hunger, fear and other displaced civilians, he has to learn how the camp works and find ways to survive without the protection of his family. An American sailor named Basie takes him under his care, but Jim’s new life forces him to grow up while the war steadily reshapes the world around him.
