The Physician
In 11th-century England, young Robert Cole loses his mother to an illness no one can treat. Taken in as an assistant by a traveling barber who poses as a healer, Robert learns the limits of rudimentary medicine and becomes determined to study the human body properly. His search for knowledge leads him to Isfahan in Persia, where he seeks instruction from Ibn Sina, the renowned physician, while religious divisions threaten the work of those pursuing medical knowledge.
