October Sky
In a small West Virginia mining town, Homer Hickam grows up as the son of a coal miner and is expected to follow the same path. After the launch of Sputnik, the teenager becomes interested in rocketry and starts building rockets of his own. His new pursuit puts him at odds with his father, who does not support Homer’s ambition, while a scientific competition gives the young inventor a chance to prove what he can do.
