The Promised Land
In 1755, Captain Ludvig Kahlen leaves military service to attempt what others consider impossible: farming the barren Danish heath and establishing a colony for the king. If he succeeds, he will receive a royal title, but the project brings him into conflict with Frederik de Schinkel, the powerful local lord who claims the land as his own. As Kahlen works to make the harsh territory productive, Schinkel uses his authority to obstruct the settlement and drive him away.
