The Insider
Jeffrey Wigand, a research chemist and former vice president at a major tobacco company, is dismissed after objecting to an ingredient that increases smokers’ dependence on its products. Television producer Lowell Bergman learns about the dispute and asks him to take part in an investigative interview for 60 Minutes. As the program prepares to expose what the tobacco industry knows about its products, Wigand faces attacks on his personal and professional life, while Bergman works to keep the interview on air despite pressure from powerful interests.
