The Gambler
Literature professor Jim Bennett hides a dangerous gambling habit behind his ordinary academic life. After borrowing money from a gangster and putting his own life up as collateral, he finds himself trapped between a ruthless creditor and the operator of an illegal gambling ring. Jim tries to turn the two men against each other while loan shark Frank takes a personal interest in him. At the same time, his growing relationship with student Amy Phillips gives him another reason to risk everything for a way out.
