Seven Samurai (1954)

In 16th-century Japan, a poor farming village faces repeated attacks from a band of robbers and has little to offer anyone who might defend it. Kambei Shimada, a samurai fallen on hard times, agrees to help and recruits six other warriors for the task. Since the villagers cannot pay them with money, the seven samurai must rely on the community while training its people to resist the coming raids.
