Rose Island

In 1968, engineer Giorgio Rosa builds a platform in the Adriatic Sea, just beyond Italy’s territorial waters, and declares it an independent state. He gives the new country Esperanto as its official language, but the project soon attracts tourists and curious visitors from the mainland. As the platform’s popularity grows, Italian authorities begin treating Rose Island as a political and financial problem, forcing Rosa to defend the future of his unusual creation.
