After more than three decades away, Noodles, a former Jewish gangster from the Prohibition era, returns to Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The neighborhood brings back memories of the criminal life he once shared with Max and the other members of his circle, along with his feelings for Deborah. As Noodles looks back at the people and choices tied to his past, he must face the regrets and haunting consequences of the life he left behind.
