Men of Honor
Senior Chief Carl Brashear wants to become the U.S. Navy’s first African-American master diver, but the path to that rank is blocked by both institutional prejudice and a hostile instructor. Master Chief Leslie W. Sunday, an old-school diver resentful of the Navy’s changing policies, uses his authority to challenge Carl at every stage of his training. Carl refuses to abandon his goal, forcing the two men into a difficult professional relationship that gradually becomes central to his fight for recognition.
