Dangerous Beauty

In late-16th-century Venice, Veronica Franco falls in love with the aristocrat Marco Venier, but their different social positions and her lack of money make marriage impossible. With guidance from her mother, Veronica enters the world of courtesans, where wealthy and influential men seek her company. She uses her intelligence and beauty to secure a place in Venetian society while trying to preserve her relationship with Marco, even as the Inquisition threatens the freedom of those around her.
