12 Years a Slave
Solomon Northup is a free Black man living in upstate New York when he is abducted and sold into slavery in Louisiana. Forced to work under different slave owners, he faces violence and racism while trying to survive without surrendering his dignity. Years into his captivity, a meeting with a Canadian abolitionist gives Solomon a possible way to challenge the life imposed on him.
