The Straight Story
Retired farmer and widower Alvin Straight hears that his estranged brother, Lyle, has suffered a serious stroke in Wisconsin. Living in Iowa without a car or a driver’s license, Alvin decides to cover the long distance himself on an old lawnmower so he can see Lyle and try to settle their unresolved conflict. His daughter Rose worries about the journey, but Alvin sets out slowly, relying on his determination to reach his brother.
