The Ninth Gate
Rare-book dealer Dean Corso is hired by Boris Balkan to locate the last two copies of The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows, an obscure book said to summon the Devil. Corso’s search takes him from libraries and hotels in New York to Portugal and southern France, where the investigation becomes linked to a series of paranormal events and deaths. As other collectors pursue the volumes, Corso must determine which copies are genuine and why the book has inspired such dangerous obsession.
