The Chorus

In postwar France, unemployed music teacher Clément Mathieu takes a job at a boarding school for unruly boys. The institution’s principal, Rachin, relies on harsh punishments, but Mathieu sees that this approach only fuels the students’ aggression. Unable to challenge Rachin openly, he uses the musical pieces he has kept hidden in his room to organize a boys’ choir, setting himself against the school’s rigid methods through music.
