Pan's Labyrinth

In postwar Spain, ten-year-old Ofelia arrives at a military camp with her pregnant mother, Carmen, who has married the harsh army officer Captain Vidal. While Vidal leads operations against resistance fighters in the surrounding woods, Ofelia discovers an old labyrinth near the house and encounters a faun who claims she could be a princess from an underground kingdom. He gives her a series of dangerous tasks, drawing her into a world where the boundary between her fairy-tale visions and the violence around her becomes increasingly uncertain.
