Mary Shelley
In early 19th-century England, Mary Godwin is a young writer whose relationship with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley unsettles her family and draws her into an uncertain new life. After the couple leaves England with Mary’s stepsister Claire Clairmont, they join Lord Byron near Lake Geneva, where a storytelling challenge prompts Mary to confront the fears and ideas taking shape around her. Her response becomes the foundation for Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus.
