Before the Fall

In 1942, Friedrich Weimer, a working-class teenager and talented boxer, is offered a place at a Nazi boarding school that trains boys for the regime’s elite. His father objects, but Friedrich joins the academy, where strict discipline soon gives way to bullying, cruelty and lessons in Nazi ideology. As he struggles to adapt, he becomes close to Albrecht Stein, the governor’s son, whose views set him apart from the other cadets.
