A Walk Among the Tombstones
Private investigator Matthew Scudder, a former police officer and recovering alcoholic, is approached by drug kingpin Kenny Kristo after the kidnapping and murder of his wife. With no official role and little help from the police, Scudder examines the crime and follows connections to other killings across New York City. His search draws him into a case involving men who select victims, demand ransom and leave behind a trail of increasingly violent crimes.
