Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Emma Robinson is brought in to assess Connie Mortensen, a mother accused of a violent crime and placed in a psychiatric hospital. Connie insists that she cannot remember what happened, leaving Emma to determine whether the memory loss is genuine and whether Connie is mentally fit to face the case. As the doctor studies her patient’s account, the assessment becomes increasingly difficult to separate from the events it is meant to explain.
