Sam Swift, a former star of a hit cop series, sees a chance to revive her career after a public breakdown sends her to rehab. To prepare for a possible comeback role, she arranges to accompany Los Angeles private detective Eddie Valetik on his investigations, even though he would rather work alone. Sam’s experience portraying a police officer gives her a set of unexpected skills, and the reluctant partners soon find themselves dealing with real cases together.
