Leslie Knope is a mid-level official in Pawnee, Indiana’s Parks and Recreation Department who wants her work to make a visible difference in the town. When an abandoned quarry becomes the focus of a plan to create a new park, she takes responsibility for moving the project forward. Leslie must navigate rigid city bureaucracy while dealing with residents who oppose the changes and developers interested in the neglected site. Her efforts bring her into conflict with the very procedures and competing interests that shape local politics.
