Trading Places
Louis Winthorpe III is a wealthy Philadelphia commodities broker whose privileged life is upended when brothers Randolph and Mortimer Duke make a wager about whether background determines success. Through their experiment, they strip Louis of his position and arrange for Billy Ray Valentine, a street con artist, to take his place at the company. As the two men are forced into unfamiliar circumstances, the Dukes’ bet sets them against each other and exposes the ruthless logic behind the experiment.
