The Last Emperor
At the age of three, Pu Yi becomes China’s last emperor and grows up inside the Forbidden City, surrounded by court rituals but isolated from ordinary life. After his abdication, he loses the protected position that defined his childhood and falls into a dissolute existence as war and foreign occupation reshape the country. When the Japanese exploit his imperial status, Pu Yi is forced to navigate a world where his identity has become a political tool.
