The Cure

Erik, a lonely boy, becomes friends with Dexter, an eleven-year-old living with AIDS. After reading about a doctor who supposedly created a treatment for the disease, Dexter decides to search for him, and Erik agrees to help. Keeping their plan from Dexter’s mother, the boys leave home and travel down the Mississippi River toward New Orleans, hoping to find a cure before Dexter’s illness progresses.
