Former Navy SEAL Dirk Pitt travels to Africa with his partner Al Giordino to find a Confederate ironclad believed to have disappeared in the Sahara with valuable treasure aboard. Their search changes course when they meet Dr. Eva Rojas, who is trying to escape a warlord while investigating a deadly plague spreading through the region. Dirk must divide his attention between the lost ship, Eva’s mission and the conflict threatening local communities.
