On a polluted Earth nearing the end of human habitation, young scientist Sam Walden remains behind to continue her research. She is searching for a way to make the planet livable again while most people prepare to leave for a new colony on Io, Jupiter’s moon. Her isolated work is interrupted when Micah arrives, trying to reach the last shuttle departing Earth.
