After the Second Impact, the fortified city of Tokyo-3 comes under attack from giant creatures known as Angels. Shinji Ikari is summoned to the NERV organization by his father and given an unexpected role in humanity’s defense: piloting an Evangelion, a mysterious humanoid weapon. With the Angels threatening to wipe out humankind, Shinji must enter the machine and face an enemy he barely understands, despite having no experience as a soldier.
