For decades, extraterrestrial refugees have lived apart from humanity in Johannesburg’s District 9, while Multi-National United is charged with controlling the overcrowded settlement. The corporation is less interested in the aliens’ welfare than in gaining access to their advanced technology. When field agent Wikus van de Merwe is infected with a mysterious virus that changes his DNA, he becomes a target of the organization and seeks shelter among the very beings he was assigned to manage.
